Poppy Cascade as a War Memorial Artwork
Knit or crochet poppies in memory of all those who have been involved in conflicts around the world. Not just red poppies, but black and pink and white to represent the diversity of people by their ethnic origins, LGBTQ orientation and including those who were conscientious objectors. You choose your colour for the poppies you make.
This community art project starts NOW (early in 2023) and will be publicly displayed from the 1- 30 November. If you are interested in contributing a poppy (or more than one) please request a knit or crochet pattern from Debbie – a volunteer with Camberwell Arts.
Debbie’s email: camberwellartsmarket@gmail.com
If you prefer to knit/crochet with others in a social setting, come and join the Camberwell Knit and Crochet group (A contribution of £1 is paid by all participants to the church for hosting us) on one Sunday afternoon per month at Love Walk United Reform Church, SE5 8AE. Turn up any time between 3 – 5pm Email Debbie to find out which Sunday is going to be the next gathering. If you become a regular we notify everyone by WhatsApp for forthcoming dates. It is usually the first OR second Sunday of the month.
